Emily Duncan: Racism In The Writing Space

Hey guys so I can’t get the podcast to load how I normally do on here but yesterday I released an episode about the Emily Duncan controversy. The main focus of this episode was to discuss diversity and inclusion in the writing space, not to harp on the actions of one person. I wanted to make sure that I hopped on here and included every link I mentioned throughout the podcast:

  1. I’m haven’t faced any kind of racism on wordpress and 90%of the people I interact with are of different race, but then again, I’m so young and still starting out in the public writing world. I’ll read these though, so I’m not naive. Thank you for sharing. Your you tube link isn’t available in my country but WP is okay.

    1. That’s wonderful that you’ve had such a positive experience on WordPress and I have too! Sorry if the link to my Podcast isn’t available in some countries, I had no idea! I want to point out that the points I made in this Podcast are very American-centric because of the examples I gave and the statistics I used. I spoke a lot about racism in the publishing industry and the lack of representation of main characters in YA fiction novels especially. It doesn’t speak on the experiences of writers who are using WordPress and other social media sites like Instagram as their main place to share their work. Thank you so much for commenting and reading! I just wanted to make a few disclaimers/clarifications for anyone who reads this post
